Construction Supervisor License Continuing Education Requirements
The Board of Building Regulations and Standards (BBRS) is pleased to announce
that it has approved continuing education requirements for licensed construction
supervisors.
July 1, 2011 is the line of demarcation for licensees to comply with education
requirements as established below.
• Licensees who renew a license or are issued a first-time license on or after
July 1, 2011
shall be expected to fully comply with education requirements following a full
two-year cycle
or elongated first-time license cycle (a first-time license cycle may extend
beyond two years depending on the licensees birth date).
• Licensees who renew or are issued a first-time license prior to July 1, 2011
will be on a different schedule.
Please see examples below for clarity.
Example No. 1:
John Smith renews his license on July 1, 2011. He next renews
on July 1, 2013. Is he required to comply with continuing education requirements?
Yes, because a full two-years has passed since his last renewal.
Example No. 2: John Smith renews his license on June 30, 2011. He next renews
on June 30, 2013. Is he required to comply with continuing education requirements?
No, a full two-year cycle has not been completed since the July 1, 2011 implementation
date.
He then renews on June 30, 2015, is he required to comply with continuing education
requirements?
Yes.
In order to renew your Contractor Supervisor license,
You need 12 hours of approved Continuing Education
broken down as:
1 hour code review
1 hour workplace safety
1 hour Business practices/worker’s compensation
1 hour Energy
1 hour Lead safe practices
PLUS 7 hours of electives for the total of 12.
The 8 hour Renovate Repair Painting
Training course provides the EPA/DLS certification.
In addition to supplying this required training for contractors working on pre-1978
housing or child-occupied facilities,
it also supplies 8 hours of continuing education in:
2 hours Workplace Safety
1 hour Business Practices
2 hours Lead Safe Practices
3 hours Electives
The Renovate Repair Painting training is $200 per student.
The 4 hour Moderate Risk Deleading
for Lead Safe Renovators will allow the attendees to do moderate risk deleading
in the state of MA.
The course really takes 7 hours, and gives 4 hours of continuing education:
1.5 hours Workplace Safety
1.5 hours Lead Safety
1 hour Business Practices.
The cost for the moderate risk deleading supplement training is $150 per student
